A TRULY ROYAL WEDDING

In a moment that touched the heartstrings of millions of Commonwealth folks across the world, Princess Beatrice wed Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi while wearing a hand-me-down wedding dress and tiara from none other than Queen Elizabeth herself!
 
Queen Elizabeth is Princess Beatrice’s grandmother, and sources say their close relationship since Princess Beatrice’s childhood may be what prompted Queen Elizabeth to loan such priceless family heirlooms to her granddaughter.
 
The wedding ceremony was private, kept to only about 20 close family members and friends (Queen Elizabeth included!) And while the wedding itself was private, the photographs of Princess Beatrice in the iconic bridal dress and tiara soon became internationally circulated.

Besides being exquisite and stunning items that most women would love the chance to try on, there is a historical significance behind the Princess’s evening garb. The dress is a vintage ivory Peau de Soie taffeta dress made by world-renowned dress maker Norman Hartnell. Hartnell is the same designer who crafted Queen Elizabeth’s 1947 wedding gown when the Queen married Prince Phillip more than 70 years ago!
 
As for the tiara, not only was the Queen Mary Fringe Tiara worn by Queen Elizabeth on her wedding day, but the tiara was again worn by Princess Anne on her wedding day in 1973!

Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi had initially planned their wedding for May 29th. But due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the couple had to reschedule. The ceremony itself observed social distancing rules in accordance with government guidelines, with each participant being especially careful considering the presence of the Queen. But despite it all, the couple was wed in glamor and royal decor, with the Peau de Soie taffeta dress and the Queen Mary Fringe Tiara being the clear eye-catchers of the momentous day.
